Coronavirus Update

Right now, every charity is considering how to respond to the Coronavirus situation. The bottom line is that no one knows exactly what will happen next. What we must do in Feeding Families is to use the influence we have to look after each other as much as we can.

Our focus has always been to feed families in difficulties but in these uncertain times we want to lead and facilitate help to as many people as we can in whatever we can reasonably do.

We are currently looking at putting proccesses in place so we can best help people so please be patient while we do this. Meanwhile we can all do things to help the sitiation:

  1. Start planning – cook a little extra and freeze it. Within reason, buy an extra tin or two when out shopping etc. Try to collect enough if you have to stay in the house for a week.
  2. Buddy up – gather a group of friends and family so you can support each other. In the event of having to isolate, agree to help do each other’s shopping.
  3. Organisations like Feeding Families will be working hard to look at how we can support those most in need. Please check our Facebook page and website for updates as to what we are doing. There are lots of local groups on Facebook that are already offering support and it would be useful to join these groups.

We cover Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Co. Durham and Cleveland.

Feeding Families is about bringing communities together. In these challenging times when families struggle to make ends meet, we link donors to families who need help and everyone gains! Sometimes we can feel that the little we can do will have no impact but we know that giving a food hamper, especially at Christmas, can make a huge difference.

Based in the North East of England, we began through one family helping another, but now we also accept donations from businesses, schools, colleges, groups of friends, churches and many more and pack and distribute these gifts to the people who need them most.

We invite you to become part of our Feeding Families movement. Join our mailing list to get all the latest news and find out how you can get involved.
